That’s a wrap - 2023 International Passivhaus Open Days

A message from our CEO, Alexia Lidas

THANK YOU!

As we close off International Passivhaus Open Days (IPOD) for 2023, I’d like to take a moment to recognise the individuals in our community who contribute to this special day.

IPOD is a major event for the Australian Passivhaus Association, our members, the home owners and the public. Pulling off 50+ tours across 19 sites with 750+ delegates is no mean feat- The brilliant Chila can tell you herself!

It takes a lot of process, coordination, patience, kindness and trust.

The foundation of this event is the trust of the home owners who let our members (and us) take the public through their homes. I want every home owner to know that we take this very seriously and are constantly trying to improve our process keeping their concerns at the forefront.

This public education campaign plays a critical role in teaching our neighbours that they should expect and ask for more of the buildings they reside and frequent.

In June we had 536 registrants and November 762 = a total of 1298 for 2023.

It was a great pleasure to receive footage which showed not only did our community turn up for the public, but also each other. With many of our members not only hosting their own opens, but attending those run by colleagues and helping to usher people through, put up signs, explain the detail of passivhaus. Bringing new ideas to the market takes a community- which is why I always say, “A rising tide lifts all boats”.

Special call out to Linden’s daughter Anouk for her super cute intro. Anouk can we please have a full tour on video? I loved your video and you are so well spoken!

I know many of you turn up and put on a good show year after year and on behalf of the Board and myself, I wanted to thank you!
