Applications for APA Board Open 2024

Applications are being sought for one Board Member to complete a two year tenure.

To increase our geographical diversity we are receiving applications from QLD (Brisbane), ACT, TAS, SA, WA, NT.

Applicants that have an understanding of the key differences of running a not for profit association vs a private entity, membership organisation small to large organisation dynamics, and strategic leadership are encouraged to apply.

The role of a Board Member is to oversee the organisation in achieving its strategic objectives, and were needed provide the CEO with gentle strategic support. This role is not hands on, and should be distinctly recognised as a very different role to that of a committee member/ APA Member striving to achieve advocacy outcomes.

While less desirable, applicants without formal governance training will be considered should they be willing, able and capable of participating in professional development to grow these skills. Support will be provided by the CEO and organisation to understand Governance.

Applicants with a desire to learn about NFP Governance and oversee the operations of a Not for Profit to ensure it achieves its goals are encourage to apply for the APA Board.

The commitment

  • A commitment to learning about NFP/ Association Governance

  • 6 Board meetings are held per annum for up to two hours per meeting. prior reading of approximately 2 hours is required

  • Ad hoc calls with CEO to provide support

  • Attendance at industry forums and events upon request.
