Passivhaus Certification Course Overview

This workshop is aimed at Passivhaus designers who have yet to complete or are in the process of working through their first project for certification.

In this course, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of:

  • What makes a good certification submission.

  • The certification process and your role as a Certified Passivhaus Designer or Consultant.

  • Common mistakes made by new designers and consultants.

  • How to improve building designs with the PHPP.

This knowledge prepares you to complete further Passivhaus education (such as becoming a Passivhaus Building Certifier) and instils greater confidence as you align yourself or your business with this growing building standard.

  • Learn how to avoid a range of common mistakes when using the PHPP & DesignPH—save yourself time and energy in your first design projects.

  • Understand what a thermal bridge modelling report should look like, what junctions need to be modelled and how to use thermal bridge catalogues.

  • Understand the benefits of using certified components and how these will save you time with your PHPP.

  • Learn how to check for overheating, understand where heat loss is occurring in your building and how shading influences building performance.

  • If you have a company membership, any staff in the membership's sub-profile have access to membership benefits, including discounts on courses and events. Once the staff member's sub-profile is activated, they can register for the course or event through their profile.

  • The Passivhaus Certification Training is equivalent to a half-day course and is split over two days from 12 pm-2 pm.

  • Yes. Before course commencement, you will receive all the necessary materials and resources, such as slides and cheat sheets.

Our Educators

  • Luc is founder and director of Detail Green who specialise in helping create Passivhaus and other low energy buildings. Luc is an engineer by training and has a background in the commercial building industry. His qualifications include Certified Passivhaus Consultant & Building Certifier, Green Star Professional as well as NABERS and NatHERS Assessors.

    Luc is passionate about ensuring buildings are designed and constructed in a manner to minimise their environmental impact during their whole life cycle.
