Residential: Single Dwelling
Passivhaus Plus Certification
Meeniyan, VIC, 2023

This is single-storey, four-bedroom home was completed in 2023. The clients deliberately chose North South Homes for their expertise with the Passivhaus Standard. They were in a situation where they were unable to achieve the level of detail and performance needed for airtightness and insulation. The project became a design-and-build process guided by PHPP science-backed modelling.

  • The home is oriented to the north to maximise passive solar gain and fitted with rooftop solar panels, enabling it to achieve surplus energy generation and receive credit from the energy supplier.

  • The team set out to adapt the original design to align with the Passivhaus Standard while keeping within the client’s budget. With a few smart adjustments—such as incorporating scissor trusses—the project was able to achieve this balance successfully.
