Last year’s conference had 9.5 CPD points for builders, engineers and architects (formal), and 16 Passivhaus CPD points, with more to be gained from the training day and site tour. We predict the CPD will be similar this year, but will announce CPD as soon as confirmed. -

Frequent SkyBus coaches run roughly every 10–20 minutes to Southern Cross Station, or there are taxis - both of which take about 25 -30 minutes depending on traffic.From Southern Cross or other central stations:
Regular trams on St Kilda Road (for example route 6) run every few minutes, with a travel time of about 15 - 20 minutes plus a short walk.

Drawing on experience from four certified retrofit projects, this candid session explores where to spend effort, where not to, what can derail a project, and the mistakes that shaped better outcomes.
Cameron Munro, Director of Passive Analytics, Matt Carland, Director of Carland Constructions, and Sarah Zhou, homeowner, present EnerPHIT Transformation of a 1980s Brick Veneer Project Home
This presentation explores practical retrofit strategies, key design decisions, and the homeowner journey, including post-occupancy insights. It offers real-world lessons for upgrading Australia’s most common housing type.
Harriet Oswald, Associate Director at Grimshaw Architects, presents Regenerative Tourism: Twelve Apostles Redevelopment
Regenerative tourism can restore Country, sustain culture, and deliver high-performance architecture. Drawing on this project, Harriet shares lessons in co-authorship with Traditional Owners, Passivhaus delivery in a harsh coastal environment, and integration of cultural stewardship with technical excellence.
Linden Thorley , Director of Linden Thorley Architects, and Trent Clark, Director at Red Cedar Constructions, present Airtightness: Passivhaus, or Not Quite?
Linden and Trent tackle the uncomfortable reality of near-miss airtightness results. This session explores what 0.65 or 1.05 ACH really means for building performance, resolving issues, and realistic expectations. Concludes with a panel discussion and the launch of a shared airtightness testing protocol.
Megan Ancliffe (UK), Passivhaus Designer at Delta Q, presents Lessons from Affordable Passivhaus Housing Blocks in London
Looking at built projects, this talk explores how early strategy, intelligent form factor, collaboration, and on-site culture make Passivhaus affordable at scale in London.
Marcus Strang, Technical Lead (Passivhaus) of HIP v. HYPE, presents Benefits and Frameworks for EnerPHit Adaptive Reuse
Looking at residential retrofits and an adaptive-reuse school project, this session shares practical lessons on detailing, moisture safety, and collaborative tools to explain how low-cost EnerPHit projects can be delivered at scale.

Dr McCarron shows how carefully constructed analogies reduce resistance, and support confident decision-making across design teams, clients, and construction environments.

Colin Brandt reflects on incremental decision-making, cost and risk conversations, and the practical steps that helped a school client confidently embrace Passivhaus within heritage and acoustic constraints.

Unpacks the modelling assumptions behind APA’s incubator analysis comparing Passivhaus heating and cooling demand with NatHERS 7-Star benchmarks. Joel Seagren explains how the results were produced, what the headline numbers mean, and how to confidently discuss Passivhaus performance when challenged by clients or critics.
